About us
Spinach for Norman is a Devon-based Ceilidh /Barn Dance band consisting of four musicians: two violins, guitar and bass guitar (with optional caller and/or singer).
From the musicians' diverse backgrounds - Irish, Dutch, Jewish, Rumanian, Yorkshire - the band has developed a repertoire of dance music drawing on Celtic, English, Yiddish, European and American folk traditions - together with some more modern musical influences.
From a Medieval French branle to a Rumanian Gypsy / Jewish circle dance or an American square dance to a Scottish reel plus traditional Dartmoor dances, UK and Irish ceilidh dances, Spinach for Norman will provide exciting traditional dance music - whether as background or for dancing - guaranteed to make your event into a full-on party!
Spinach for Norman have many years of experience in playing for Ceilidhs, Medieval Banquets, Weddings, and Parties at Village or Town Halls, Schools, Festivals, Burns Nights, St Patrick's Nights and all sorts of other events and venues, from a remote Cornish fort, stately homes and hotels, to barns and marquees.
They've played at Twinning Association weekends in France, for Parent Teachers Associations in schools, at music festivals such as Sidmouth and Weybridge, and for charity events.
Whatever your event, Spinach for Norman will play traditional music to get your feet tapping!
The band is also experienced in running, or playing for, music and dance workshops in schools, at festivals and elsewhere.
